2007 Catalina 36 MkII
Description:
The Catalina 36 MK II is a popular and well-regarded cruising sailboat designed for comfortable and enjoyable sailing. Designed by Gerry Douglas, this newer version has a length overall of 36 feet and a beam of 11 feet, perfect length for an affordable slip. (The slip is transferable to a new owner, no waiting list in Kenosha)
This well maintained Catalina 36 MK II GITANA, is a sailboat with a spacious, comfortable interior, a large cockpit, and a variety of features for easy sailing and maneuvering. Lets start with her "creature comforts"!
-
Interior The Catalina 36 MK II has two cabins with double beds, a U-shaped galley (seats 6 for dinner comfortably on those chillier nights) an L-shaped settee, a navigation panel with rotating stool and desk. It also has a large closet in addition to a hanging locker which is not only convenient for hanging dripping wet foul weather gear, but a few extra cocktail dresses as well! The ample drawers throughout the salon and many storage compartments give the interior an uncluttered look.
The Galley allows two to cook side-by-side and offers spacious storage for pots, pans, plasticware (all included:) and a double sink for quick wash up either with a pump or dock water hook up.
Gitana has a large cockpit shaded by a newer bimini and dodger to let air flow, but not have the beating sun beam down on your cocktail hour. There is also a sunscreen that zips up on starboard to shield the sun as well.
Rigging: The Catalina 36 MK II has the same hull and rig as the earlier version, but with an updated deck and interior. Running Rigging was replaced 4 years ago, there is the original genoa in addition to the colorful Genny - Ole'!
This Catalina has a 35hp Universal M35B engine that can reach a cruising speed of 7 knots. She has low engine hours as well. The sheets and halyards are lead aft to the cockpit, making it easy for you and your Significant Other or child to handle and trim the sails with just two of you especially thanks to the in-mast furling main. The helm station is well-positioned to allow a clear horizion and the wheel is easy to handle.
There is a convenient Stern ladder, plus cockpit handheld shower for your after-swim. The sailboat also has a walk-through transom that makes it easy to access the stern ladder and the pressure shower. Cleanest bilge ever, owners were sticklers for brightwork and maintenance. They are moving on in their lives and want Gitana to find her next on water home! She is on the hard at Southport Marina Kenosha, Wi.
